The Blessing of Easter Foods
Is a brief ceremony of Polish origin; traditional Easter food items (meats, eggs, candy – yes, candy) are blessed so that the breaking of the Lenten Fast may be, not a return to ordinary eating, but a sharing in the Heavenly Banquet that Easter inaugurates.
The Vigil of Easter
A service of light and a somewhat extended liturgy of the Word lead up to a joyful renewal of Baptismal promises and Holy Communion celebrated as a life-sharing with the Risen One.
